Self-described as "The Dirty South Afro-Beat Arkestra," the band blends the music of Fela Kuti and other Afrobeat and Afrofunk pioneers with the funk, jazz, rap, and rock and roll of New Orleans, landing somewhere between Fela, OutKast, and Kool & the Gang. Founded in 2005, the band made their Jazz Fest debut in 2007 and returned to the festival stage in 2026. Their 2023 EP The Bass Age features Parliament-Funkadelic saxophonist Greg Thomas.
