Brasinola at Good Measure

Brasinola plays the music of Brazil’s Tropicalia movement with a New Orleans rhythm underneath. The band draws on the late 1960s and 1970s heyday of that Brazilian sound, its blend of samba, funk, folk, and psychedelia, while grounding everything in the feel of the city where they perform. As bassist and co-founder Ron Johnson has put it, “the NOLA in our name is the foot of the New Orleans drummer.” A longtime presence on the city’s club circuit, the band first made their name at the Maple Leaf Bar and have been a Frenchmen Street fixture since.
