Dubbed "The Greatest DJ in the World" by Lil Wayne, Raj Smoove is one of the most celebrated DJs to emerge from the Crescent City. He is the game-day DJ for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, and his credits include the main stage at Essence Festival, Jazz Fest, NBA All-Star Weekend, Rihanna's ANTI-Tour wrap party, and collaborations with Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, PJ Morton, and Stevie Wonder. Soul Brass Band is a contemporary New Orleans brass band led by Derrick "Smoker" Freeman. Drawing from the deep roots of second line culture, the band brings classic brass band instrumentation to a repertoire of funk, hip-hop, and soul, giving familiar songs an unmistakably New Orleans feel. The Big Playback is a one-of-a-kind live experience born from a happy accident. When Soul Brass Band and DJ Raj Smoove were forced to share a stage at a rain-soaked wedding, the chemistry was immediately apparent. Raj Smoove spins and mixes classic OutKast and A Tribe Called Quest records in real time while Soul Brass Band performs live, and Derrick "Smoker" Freeman MCs over the top. Raj loops what the band is playing and weaves it back into the mix: live sampling, live brass, and thirty years of hip-hop's greatest records converging in real time. Full bar on-site. Shawan Rice is a New Orleans based vocalist, songwriter, and storyteller known for emotionally charged performances that pair original music with distinctive reinterpretations of influential repertoire. Touring throughout the United States and internationally for over a decade, Rice has appeared on stages including Congo Square at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Switzerland’s JazzAscona Festival, with a performance history spanning festivals, concert venues, and intimate listening rooms. She has shared bills with artists including Grace Potter and George Porter Jr.   Her 2023 album Fever Dreams showcases the funky guitar work and soulful vocals that have made her one of the city's most compelling live performers. Jelly Joseph is a Grammy Nominated singer/songwriter whose musical talents and gifts have taken her far beyond her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Born to a mother with gospel roots and a father known for soulful blues, Joseph's voice is a perfect combination of spiritual, soulful and raw. Internationally known for her work with Tank and The Bangas, HaSizzle, and as the frontwoman of Galactic, traveling and sharing her eccentric and sassy vocals is the singer's main passion. In 2024 she and her band appeared in the Amazon Movie Roadhouse. Her new single "Thru The Roof" was released on 4.20.26. Learn more about this free show here.

Led by saxophonist, vocalist, and songwriter James Martin, the James Martin Band delivers a modern New Orleans sound rooted in funk, soul, and contemporary jazz. Led by Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots deliver a powerful blend of zydeco, blues, gospel, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms rooted in Louisiana tradition. Anchored by Barnes' commanding vocals and multi-instrumental versatility, the band's sound reflects a lifetime of musical and cultural exchange across what he describes as a true "musical gumbo." Brasinola plays the music of Brazil's Tropicalia movement with a New Orleans rhythm underneath. The band draws on the late 1960s and 1970s heyday of that Brazilian sound, its blend of samba, funk, folk, and psychedelia, while grounding everything in the feel of the city where they perform. As bassist and co-founder Ron Johnson has put it, "the NOLA in our name is the foot of the New Orleans drummer." A longtime presence on the city's club circuit, the band first made their name at the Maple Leaf Bar and have been a Frenchmen Street fixture since. Learn more about this free show here.
